Not many ethical fashion collections compete with high street prices. Yet KTO are working with fairtrade and organic producer groups to do just that. Founder, Charlotte Instone says, “I want to see a movement created in our lifetime the makes sustainable clothing become the new norm. We have the best access to technology, education, and resources to create the most pioneering solutions to these issues.”
Transparency is seen to be the first step to transform the industry. As the majority of brands (63%) have no idea which factories made their clothes, this will be the first fully transparent store in London. This collective of independent brands knows exactly how each of their products are made and who made them.
Each day of the pop-up will host an event, from meet the designer soirées, to print workshops, and magazine launches. These inspirational brands will share their story, giving conscious consumers an opportunity to learn more about transparency and accountability. With sustainable fashion set to be the next retail frontier this is an indicator that indie brands could lead the way.
